The principal member of Points North, Collene Armstrong, is an experienced educational consultant with over 25 years of experience in the areas of instructional, curriculum and resource design, application development, and project management of multilingual and complex distributive learning projects. She has worked with various organizations to seek practical and technological solutions for First Nation and Inuit students and educators. Her goal is to enable access to a full range of relevant and culturally supportive learning opportunities through technology.

Points North Design Services has had the privilege of working with a variety of educational institutions such as the Nunavut Department of Education, Distributive Learning Resources Branch of Alberta Learn, BC OpenSchool, and the Alberta Online Consortium on a contract basis.

She has extensive experience developing technical and instructional frameworks for the classroom, blended, and online learning environments from grade 2 to adult learners. Her technical expertise includes the design, development and implementationof interactive multimedia learning sites, learning object repositories and collaborative learning systems.

She is fluent with a variety of learning technologies, applications and languages including most learning management systems, synchronous conferencing tools and development languages. She has been sought out for interface design, media development and expertise on IMS content and schema standards. Instructional design skills include course proposal/budget development, course frameworks, curricular correlations, instructional blueprints, and instructional design review for created content.

As project manager for large scale, multilingual, third party funded educational content and resource projects she also managed the sub-contracting of programmers, translators and content experts. Collene is firmly committed to a collaborative team approach with an iterative design and development model. A process reliant upon team participation, guidance, and content expertise to ensure relevance, scope and advancement. She has drafted funding submissions, managed the planning, design, implementation complete to the evaluation stage.
